What to use a white screen for

Why a white screen finds dead pixels
A dead pixel stays black because its transistor no longer lets light through. Against a bright white field, a black or discolored dot is far easier to notice than it is on a busy desktop. This is the opposite of the black-screen test, which reveals stuck and bright pixels instead — run both for a complete check.
Cleaning first, diagnosing second
Most "dead pixels" people find on a white screen turn out to be dust or a smudge. Before you conclude anything, wipe the panel gently with a dry microfiber cloth. If the dot moves or disappears, it was never a pixel defect. Only a spot that stays perfectly fixed while you clean and while colors change is a real candidate.
