Red Screen — Fullscreen Pure Red
A pure, fullscreen red field that lights only the red subpixels. Single-color screens are the fastest way to isolate a stuck or dead subpixel of that exact color.
What to use a red screen for
- Finding dead or stuck red subpixels
- Judging red purity and saturation
- Spotting non-red dots that break the field
- Part of a full-color dead pixel sweep
How to use it
- Click "Go Fullscreen Red".
- Any dot that is black or a different color is a suspect subpixel.
- Cycle through red, green and blue to catch defects of each channel.
- Send anything suspicious to the Dead Pixel Test to diagnose it properly.
Why single-color fields matter
Each pixel is made of red, green and blue subpixels. A subpixel that is stuck on shows up as a colored dot on black; a subpixel that is stuck off shows up as a missing dot on its own color. A pure red field lights every red subpixel at once, so a dead red subpixel appears as a tiny dark dot and any non-red speck stands out immediately. Running red, green and blue in turn covers all three channels.
