Stuck Pixel Fixer — Non-contact Color Cycling
A stuck subpixel is frozen on one color. Rapidly flashing random colors over it can sometimes shock it back to life. Drag the noise square over the stuck pixel, set a timer, and let it run.
How color cycling fixes a stuck pixel
A stuck pixel happens when a subpixel’s transistor is stuck in one state, holding it on at a fixed color. Flooding that spot with rapid, random full-intensity color changes forces the subpixel to switch on and off as fast as the panel allows. In many cases that rapid exercise frees the transistor and the subpixel starts responding normally again. It does not always work, and it does nothing for a true dead pixel — but it is non-destructive, so it is always worth trying first.
How to use it
- First run the Dead Pixel Test to confirm the defect is a stuck pixel (a fixed color dot), not a dead one.
- Drag the flashing square so it sits directly over the stuck pixel.
- Choose a timer — 10 to 30 minutes is a reasonable first attempt.
- Press Start and leave it running. When the timer ends, retest.
- If it did not work, run it again — some pixels need several long passes.
A note on the “pressure” method
You will find advice online to fix stuck pixels by pressing on the panel with a cloth or by gently massaging the spot. We do not recommend it. Pressing on an LCD or OLED panel can create new stuck pixels, spread existing damage, or crack the substrate, and the risk usually outweighs the reward. The non-contact color-cycling method on this page cannot physically damage your screen, which is why it is our recommended first — and, honestly, only — approach.
If cycling does not help
If a defect survives several long cycling sessions, it is most likely a dead pixel or a panel-level fault that software cannot repair.
